My grand daughter is going to have a quincinera cruise this year. While this means spending time with lots of in laws, it also means a cute little girl will transform into a beautiful young woman.
So. . I realize there must be many ways and traditions for young ladies”coming out”.
All the information for this cruise came today; from a list of activities to a list of restaurants on our ship. We had to sign release forms so we could do the zip line and/or surf boarding lessons.
I will do the zip line, I won’t think about surfing, not at my age.lol. OK I’m wandering in my thoughts, so… young girls and boys become of age. Each culture has their”thing” right? How cool is that? Bar Mitzvah, quincinera, Sweet 16, I Mean It’s A time for young people to actually realize they are growing up and will be making their own decisions on their lives. .. Do you remember when you became “of age”? What a time..
Well. Today we are boarding our ship. We can see it from our hotel room.
As I board the ship I watch as people from all over the world meet. Smiles, laughter, hugging, kissing; what joy, fun and love!
We text each other before we leave our room; setting our walkie talkies so we can chat on the ship. We begin to meet the groups of families. ..many of these people are new friends and relatives for me. Slowly we get to know them and quickly my heart melts to their kindness, love and acceptance.
There are parties for our granddaughter; watching her dance with daddy on stage; tropical night, Cuban night… Beautiful dresses; beautiful people, beautiful families.
Watching all these young girls becoming of age from different countries was such a joy and I was honored to be part of it. These beautiful young women have just started their adventure of a lifetime; may they find what makes them happy; loving relationships, kindness, family and enjoying everything that life has to offer.
